Poems Journal

Some of the more interesting and rewarding projects we come across are those which become a labour of love. They seldom make money and hardly ever follow a time-line.
You embark on these projects fueled by a desire to produce an enlightened piece of work, something that evokes a response in the reader and ultimately expresses creativity in its purest form.

The Odd Poems and Slogans book, for our dear friend John O'Sullivan www.Irish-Poet.com was no exception. John is a frenetic poet, if he is not tapping away his poems into his Blackberry he is doodling them on the back of postcards. Our challenge was to bring all these ephemeral materials he had been collating, from childhood photos to Egyptian street signs, together to create a very personal journal. The project stretched over 18 months, and at one stage was even residing in our meeting room with our designer, Shermeen.

Now nearing the end it will soon be in print, but before we unveil it we thought you may like to see how it evolved. From a DHL box brimming with odd poems and slogans to John's personal journal of discovery.

Wallpaper and Paste

How do you get visitors to return to your site on a regular basis, that's always a question we find ourselves asking. Apart from ensuring the work is worth coming back to you can try offering freebies.

We had already developed some graphic images for our website, so it seemed an obvious progression to adapt those images for use as wallpapers. Offering different sizes for different uses i.e; iPhone, iPad including various Mac screens we ensured we catered for most needs. By releasing one set at a time, on bi-monthly basis, we also (hopefully) ensured a steady return of wallpaper fans.

iPhone and iPad template files are common on the web, we grabbed ours from
iPad/iPhone .psd files  The .psd file provides you with the iPad/iPhone in a layered photoshop file, you can then strip away the elements you don't need, ie. the iPad home screen, allowing you to drop in your own visual.

Working with Four Seasons guidelines

Recently Four Seasons Hotel Sydney underwent some refurbishments and as part of that development Qube were commissioned to produce a new set of marketing collateral.

Working within existing Four Seasons guidelines two distinct looks were created. (seen in the first few slides) One direction, which we particularly liked, was the 'art gallery' theme which used colourful bold graphic interpretations of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House to set the stage. The other depicted Sydney as the jewel that crowned Australia with the use of breathtaking city skylines images.

After much searching the cover image was finally sourced through the Tourism Australia Board image library who had some stunning images available for us. A unique line illustration of the Sydney Opera House 'sails' was used as a simple spot gloss varnish graphic in the final printed brochure and kit folder.

Overall, a really stunning piece which we were all very happy with.
